感觉今年公司的holiday party是这几年办的最好的了，就在附近的Westin Hotel租了整个的二层。地方很大，包括ballroom, pre-function area, jazz & martini bar，大家可以走来走去，喝酒聊天吃饭跳舞的地方都有。吧台有好些个，不用像去年排队要等那么久，吃的也丰盛，分布的很广。还请了专门的摄影师拍照，只是照片还没出来。先上些自己照的吧，光线不太好。。

经过昨天晚上三个小时的超难的期末考，大家之后到对面的bar里庆祝，第一个学期终于正式结束了！！已经修了四门课，感觉挺有成就感的，虽然之后的两年半似乎还很漫长。。今天去上班也觉的人轻飘飘的了，心情超好，不像之前总会想着上课，作业，考试。不上课只上班的日子真是轻松啊。要在之后的两个星期里好好放松，享受‘假期’。明天是公司的holiday party，后天去朋友家，圣诞节去纽约。。Yeah~~

学校第一学期的前两门课(Organizational Behavior and Statistics) 已经上完了，还没歇着，两门又开始了：Microeconomics and Marketing。可能是有点轻车熟路了，感觉比前两门轻松很多，开始打混了哈。。本以为在现在的经济形势下Econ课会很有趣，老师又是在职的Freddie Mac的deputy chief economist，谁知道第一堂课竟是basic supply & demand, Adam Smith， sunk cost..，实在枯燥得很。老师正常的教课任务也很重，不敢多讲当今的新闻，希望之后会有新东西。

 

Maybe many people have done the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment test at some point of time. For a school leadership skills event, I did the test again and reaffirmed my type:

 

Extraversion/Introversion: slight Introversion

Sensing/Intuition: moderate Sensing

Thinking/Feeling: clear Thinking

Judging/Perceiving: very clear Judging

 

So the description of my type is: quiet, serious, earn success through thoroughness and dependability; practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible; decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions; take pleasure in making everything orderly organized - their work, home and life; value traditinos and loyalty. Pretty accurate!

 

9/29 update:

 

一大早听说Wachovia没倒闭倒是卖给Citigroup了。经国会讨论了一星期终于在周末定稿的bail out plan今天经过几个小时的辩论投票又被否决了。Dow Jones随之跌了778点 (-8%)，成为历史上一天最大跌幅，一天股市损失了$1 trillion。。

9/26 Update:

 

上个周末的时候仅剩的大的投行Goldman Sachs和Mongan Stanley决定要加入commercial bank的行列，不再仅是投资银行了。昨天晚上Washington Mutual倒了，一些好的资产立马被JP Morgan低价收购了，成为美国有史来倒闭的最大的银行。这一整个星期国会一直在讨论$700 billion bail out plan，还没结果。。

 

经常一觉醒来，发现又有重大新闻，习惯了。

自从去年夏天美国subprime mortgage crisis开始浮出水面以来，Bear Stern被有政府撑腰的JP Morgan廉价收购，IndyMac发生银行挤兑倒了，Fannie Mae & Freddic Mac由政府接管；上个星期天晚上才传出的消息，Lehman Brother申请破产，Merrill Lynch被迫卖给了Bank of America, AIG处在危险中；今天Federal Reserve才决定给AIG注入$85 billion占有80%股份。。。一些个有上百年历史的排名前几的投资银行一夜之间就没有了。大家都说是近代xx年以来最大的金融危机，谁都不知道未来会怎样。还好我们公司到现在还支撑着。。。

 

现在一星期里面最惬意的就是星期五了，因为二四晚上的课已经上完了，上班是最后一天可以早回家，又还不到周末不用敢着做作业，写paper, 读一打的reading assignment，加小组meeting。。周末已经没有什么乐趣可言了。以前天天只上班的日子没有好好的珍惜，现在知道也已经晚了。

 

如果有人要考虑工作的时候再继续读书，我会告诉他要慎重的考虑啊，life style都不一样了。。><

 

Finally the four-day opening residency for the business school is over. Now i know how many events you can squeeze in and how many things you can learn in four days. From first time meeting the classmates, faculty and staff, getting to know and building relationships with team members, briefly learning strategic analysis, teamwork, communication and negociation, researching the wireless industry and understanding our particular company's position and strategies, negociating with other companies for alliance, preparing two rounds of presentation and Q&As, group meetings to 1am in the morning, to Yoga, volleyball tournament, BBQ and social events......Finally it is over. And my team is the winner of the final case competition!!! Even from this first residency before actual classes in business, i feel i have already learnt so much from this experience and will be able to apply work the next day.  

 

Now i need to catch up and get enough sleep...
